Hi. I am writing in to feedback a serious issue at Nee Soon South CC this morning.
It is day one of the $1 NeeSoon Cares program.
Upon my arrival at the waiting area around 8.45am, the seats were all filled by elderly/senior citizens.
Around 9.20am on, there were massive crowding issue all over the place while the staffs (2 pax) were setting up the counter.
The rest of the issue may be seen on your CCTVs and feedbacks you may gather from your ground staffs. I shall not elaborate.
What i wish to highlight is that, this great initiative for at least one SG citizen household to redeem worth of $20 from a dollar is every qualified households benefit.
It is definitely known, that NeeSoon has alot of senior elderly.
Hereby i comment the actual on the ground visible problems:
1) The banner and signages lack of different languages.
2) The staffs and set up of the premises, especially holding area and where to start the queue is unclear
3) Elderly made standing with their trolleys as support due to lack of seats
4) Organisation and crowd control was not in place
For any failure of the soldier, it is the commander's inability to lead…
Please consider:
a) Having the premises set up one day before or 2 hours before commencement of such event
b) To have sufficient and effective signages around the area to show directional information on at least 4 languages and probably easy to understand picture/icons
c) Event could split into 4 timings for different age range.
I.e.: 9am: YR1900-YR1950 / 10am: YR1951-YR1970 / 11am: YR1971-YR1990 / 12pm: YR1991-YR2020 etc etc.
OR
Split the holding area into 5 or 6 segments, separating by age group.
So, the elderly segment (e.g. born year before 1970) will have chairs in a row while waiting)
d) 1 to 2 pax of staff/volunteer should be always presence around the elderly sections to prepare and render assistance when needed.
Please implement and further enhanced the structure and system to better manage such events. It is great to see smile from happy elderly but when the venue is in such a chaos, safety may be compromised.
I am a fellow citizen and Nee Soon loyal resident. I simply want a healthy and enjoyable stay with my family here and experience happiness from the community and neighbours.
[Not shouting, frustrated and annoyed uncle auntie because people cut queue, unclear instructions at the venue and people pushing one another causing harm]
Last but not least, the ground staffs may have performed to their best ability already but it is the lack of resources and support from the management. Not grudges, just looking forward to see improvements.
Thanks.
[Time check: 10.48am – queue number 40]
