I recently photographed a wedding on the SS Sicamous in Penticton and wow what an incredibly unique and unforgettable wedding venue. This July wedding was the perfect beach wedding, with the ceremony on the jetty extending out onto Okanagan Lake, surrounded by wide-open water views and the most beautiful natural light.
The SS Sicamous is available to rent for the entire day, giving couples complete freedom to design a wedding that truly reflects them, from bringing in their own catering to choosing their own vendors. From a photography perspective, this flexibility is such a gift. The day can unfold naturally, without feeling rushed or restricted by tight timelines. Being a smaller venue, it kept all the guests together on the boat leading to an intimate wedding for my couple, their family and closest friends.
One of the things I loved most about photographing this venue is that there were so many stunning photo locations all in one place, meaning there is no need to leave the property for photos. We captured portraits on the jetty right after the ceremony, and later in the evening returned for sunset portraits, which was absolutely magical. The mix of lake views, rich heritage details throughout the ship, and the glow of the SS Sicamous after dark made this wedding so much fun photograph.
For couples looking for an intimate wedding venue that feels intimate, meaningful, and truly different from the typical options, the SS Sicamous offers a one-of-a-kind experience and it’s an incredible place to create your unique wedding memories.

We made a special trip to see this museum only to find they were closed for the season. However, as my friend was looking in the window declaring "I see people", they let us and a few others in. This is one of the most interesting museums I have seen so far. You will not be disappointed. Special thank you for allowing us access and also to Chris for the tour of the wheel house.

An unexpected gem! Inexpensive tickets were a no brainer for us to take a peek inside and see what this place had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised by how long we ended up staying and how much we learned about the history of Penticton. My kids loved going around the boat and soaking up the scenic views of the beach nearby. We read a lot of the signs and learned so much – Great place to break between the beach festivities and action park!
