Visited Bury St Edmunds Cathedral felt like stepping into a pocket of peace right in the heart of the city. Surrounded by the serene Abbey Gardens, the cathedral rose with a quiet majesty, its artistic details and sacred stillness creating a truly beautiful atmosphere.

We arrived just as the church service was about to begin soon, and the sound of the choir rising in harmony filled the space.
The music felt heavenly—soft, echoing, and deeply moving—wrapping the whole cathedral in a sense of awe and reverence.🙏🏼

There’s also a charming LEGO model of the cathedral, a delightful surprise for anyone who loves creativity and detail.

The staff were genuinely welcoming, adding to the sense of warmth the place carries. And before you leave, don’t miss the pretty little gift shop, perfect for picking up a small souvenir to remember the visit.👍🏻

This is one of the kindest, most beautiful, most welcoming cathedrals we have ever visited. It’s an enormous reason why we thought Bury St. Edmunds was one of the nicest towns that we’ve ever been to.

We are so thankful that we were able to attend their Christmas service on December 23, and that we were able to visit many other times for daily walks (which included walking the dog inside).

I hadn’t been to a church service in over a decade, but the service, atmosphere, and friendly folks of the cathedral made my wife and I want to return as soon as we’re able to!

This church is loving and welcoming. And at sunset and night, it’s one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen.
Thank you to their entire community!

St Deny’s church was built over an Abbey started in 1020. This became St James’ which itself was improved in 1503 and then 1860. Then in 1914 it became a Cathedral to the new Diocese and more construction throughout the last century interrupted by wars until completion of the new Millenium Tower in 2005 with its brightly decorated ceiling. It was very modern and well-maintained and houses Mary Tudor’s grave. So much history and so little time!
