My friend and I have been staying nearby and came into Canterbury to see the sights. We came upon this museum and it was an absolute delight!! Interesting little exhibits. I was most pleased to discover the history of Bagpuss! For a free museum, there’s a lot of things to see! Highly recommended to visit!

The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge is a great museum plus exibitions in the heart of Canterbury.
This beautifully restored building combines a museum, art gallery, and library all under one roof. The exhibitions are varied and thoughtfully curated, ranging from local history to contemporary art. It’s family-friendly and a great place to spend an hour or two exploring. The architecture is also impressive, with charming details inside and out.
It’s free to enter, making it an accessible and enriching experience for everyone. Whether you’re visiting Canterbury or live nearby, The Beaney is well worth a visit.

A must for families with children! This is one of my favorite museum visits in Europe. Each gallery thoughtfully displayed with a coordinating children’s activity center in each gallery. It was just myself and my husband and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. As a bonus, if also serves as the visitor center in a centuries old building.
