I booked this stay in November, with the intention of enjoying a high-quality and relaxing experience, however several aspects fell well below the standard I anticipated.

To begin with, the room did not feel luxurious at all. The carpets looked tired and dirty, and the sliding balcony door was extremely difficult to use, which was both frustrating and inconvenient. The bathroom was acceptable, but very basic and standard, and did not reflect the level of comfort I expected for the price and reputation of the hotel.

I was also extremely disappointed with the leisure facilities. While the facilities themselves looked as though they could have been enjoyable, they were completely overcrowded and full to bursting point. It felt impossible to use them properly, and as a result we did not use the pool, sauna or jacuzzi at all, despite getting changed into swimwear and attempting to access them. I would strongly suggest that something is reviewed here, as hotel guests should be able to enjoy these facilities without them being so overwhelmed.

In addition, the lounge bar area was extremely busy mid-afternoon and the service was very poor. We ordered two portions of fries, which took over 40 minutes to arrive.

The only real positives were the food and breakfast. The meal in Steak on Six was fantastic, and the breakfast the following morning was also excellent, which we did appreciate.

Overall, this stay did not meet expectations and I left feeling genuinely disappointed, especially considering the time, money, and effort involved.

Been to Celtic Manor many times over the years but this time there has been a big gap. Staff were fantastic still especially the driver that took us to rafters for lunch.

We had the superior room which was very nice with a balcony but weather wasn't great so didn't use it. A nice touch was the coffee pod machine in the room and the bed was comfy a good nights sleep guaranteed.

However the spa facilities was a disappointment, having to book a slot it was way too busy. The steam room was boarded up and the hot tub really only had jets working at either end nothing in the middle. I was shocked by how many people were using mobile phones in the pool area especially filming their children, made it feel uncomfortable.

We had a room on the 6th floor no children so was nice and quiet, really liked the private lounge on this floor. Coffee was good from the machine and the nibbles were great, bar staff here were awesome very chatty just a nice vibe.

We also had breakfast on the 6th floor rather than the main restaurant and this was excellent, plenty of choice and good quality.

We dined in Pad one evening which is located in the old Manor house, it's quite a trek from the main hotel. We had the tasting menu and the starters were amazing, a special mention of the duck pancake's they were the best we ever had. The mains weren't as good as the starters so that was a little disappointing especially the steak as it was a little over done.

I think the parking fee of £25 was a little steep, for a hotel of this type paying for parking was a shock.

We booked a spa package for my husband's birthday. I had a brilliant facial with Nicola which left me feeling wonderful! And my husband loved his massage. We spent the day enjoying the facilities (and mostly doing nothing which was the best part 🤣). The spa package was good value as it included a decent lunch.

Celtic Manor is a lovely place, though a little tired in places and sometimes feels like it's trying to be more high end than it actually is. That said, we had a fabulous day and would go again!
