This is our second visit to this museum. Last visit was about 20 years ago. But it did not disappoint. Still an astonishing collection. We visited the Kreeger museum yesterday. Both are remarkable. The star at the PHILLIPS Collection is clearly Renoir’s ‘Déjeuner des cannotiers’. Take at least a couple of hours to enjoy.

This is terrible, but almost every time I leave an art museum, I’m disappointed. ‘What did I just see? Was it even good? Did I recognize any of the artists that I saw? No.’
The Phillips Collection is completely different. Every corner you discover, ‘OMG that’s a Picasso, OMG Matisse, OMG Vincent van Gogh!’
Newly obsessed with Rothko, I went specifically for the Rothko room. I was there on a weekday afternoon, and it was wonderful. I could sit there by myself for 30 minutes and just take it all in. It was absolutely the best art experience I’ve ever had. I interacted with five staff members, who were all extremely helpful and polite. Absolutely five stars, highly recommend!

Compact but really good. Modern Art but not totally bonkers. Especially enjoyed the Rothko-room. Entry isn't free but for me it was well worth it. Gift shop was fun too
