You can definitely tell that the staff take pride in their work. The check in process, food and other service was excellent and they were very helpful. I do with that there was underground parking space available (reserved for Hotel guests) or that the space was clearly marked how many spaces were available. Besides that, it was an enjoyable stay!
The room was clean but I had trouble getting some outlets (especially in the bathroom) to work.

Very disappointed with my stay at the Westin Holtel. For a supposedly higher end hotel, it was VERY mediocre. My partner and I stayed there for the Getca (Edmonton Teachers' Conference) convention as we were presenting at the hotel. Well, there must be a scarcity in coffee and condiments because there was only one of everything. When we called down to reception for the them to bring up more to our room, they brought enough for one…. Not enough for morning coffee.
The towels looked like the same ones the hotel started with when they first opened. They were very thin and looked well used. The alarm clock didn't work, the lighting was horrible especially in the bathroom.
Now, the bed, on the other hand, was very comfortable. And the location of this hotel is ideal.
Now for the reason we were there in the first place…Don't get me started on the setup for the Getca presentations…totally unorganized!!
How many years has this hotel hosted Getca that they couldn't set up properly….at least the room we were in. I cant speak for the other presnters. The room that we were in, only half the room had chairs set up while the other half was empty. Why not fully set it up anticipating a good turnout? WHILE the presenter was speaking, people were walking in with no place to sit so the hotel staff had to bring in chairs. They brought a few at a time and had to interrupt the speaker about 5 different times througjt the presentation not to mention disrupt those who were trying to listen to keep adding chairs so people could sit down for the hour presentation. FYI, there were still people having to stand throught the presentation.
Come on! This should have been done well before.
There was no lavalier, only a microphone which didnt work for a presenter that is showing slides and moving around the room…which brings me to my next issue, which they put the presenter in an adjoining room where they didnt close the partition all the way, and the presentation in the other room was very loud because it was interactive with the attendees, so all the participants who were sitting from the middle to the back of our room could not hear the speaker and were quite distracted with the noise from the adjoining room. This should have been better organized.
Look, this isn't rocket science, Westin! I'm sure you're charging a pretty penny for hosting this convention EVERY YEAR. Let's take some time to do your job properly!

Hotel seemed decent and my room mostly clean.
The hotel main lobby area however, has a scent being pumped in.
I am severely sensitive to scent. I get extremely sick. Waiting in line to check in, waiting for elevators, coming and going, all caused me severe pain as I walked though.
I would have loved to have tried breakfast at the restaurant but there was no way I would have been able to handle staying in that space as it was in the same space as the scented area.
Thankfully the room had no scent.
We have a big convention every year downtown and although I liked the hotel, I hope I'm not put here again.
