The Pontchartrain is a whole vibe. This place is New Orleans through and through, and an ideal home base for your next trip to the Big Easy. It’s rare to find a hotel that nails good food, great drinks, and genuinely excellent host of the city’s best jazz musicians all in one place, but The Pontchartrain delivers on all of it, plus a cozy, comfortable bed to come home to at night. The rooms and common spaces are eclectic, unique, and romantically true to the soul of New Orleans.
One of the best parts of staying here is the location. Set in the Garden District, the hotel offers a quieter, more relaxed experience away from the chaos of the Quarter, while still being close enough to easily get to all the sights, music, food, and nightlife you’ll want to explore. It feels local, charming, and refreshingly calm after a day out in the city.
Because this is a historic building, it comes with all the charm and character you’d expect, along with a few quirks. The hotel is older, like much of the city itself, so things like brief power flickers or lower water pressure in the shower can happen. If you’re someone who can roll with the flow, slow down, and appreciate a place for its history, personality, and lived-in beauty, this spot is truly special. If you need everything brand new and perfectly polished at all times, it may not be the right fit. Or better yet, YOU may not be the right fit for The Pontchatrain, ya dig?
For travelers who love authenticity, music, atmosphere, and a sense of place, The Pontchartrain is an absolute gem. We will definitely be returning.
