The Pontchartrain is a whole vibe. This place is New Orleans through and through, and an ideal home base for your next trip to the Big Easy. It’s rare to find a hotel that nails good food, great drinks, and genuinely excellent host of the city’s best jazz musicians all in one place, but The Pontchartrain delivers on all of it, plus a cozy, comfortable bed to come home to at night. The rooms and common spaces are eclectic, unique, and romantically true to the soul of New Orleans.

One of the best parts of staying here is the location. Set in the Garden District, the hotel offers a quieter, more relaxed experience away from the chaos of the Quarter, while still being close enough to easily get to all the sights, music, food, and nightlife you’ll want to explore. It feels local, charming, and refreshingly calm after a day out in the city.

Because this is a historic building, it comes with all the charm and character you’d expect, along with a few quirks. The hotel is older, like much of the city itself, so things like brief power flickers or lower water pressure in the shower can happen. If you’re someone who can roll with the flow, slow down, and appreciate a place for its history, personality, and lived-in beauty, this spot is truly special. If you need everything brand new and perfectly polished at all times, it may not be the right fit. Or better yet, YOU may not be the right fit for The Pontchatrain, ya dig?

For travelers who love authenticity, music, atmosphere, and a sense of place, The Pontchartrain is an absolute gem. We will definitely be returning.

We had the most incredible stay at The Pontchartrain Hotel, where I spent the night before my wedding with my mom and sister, got ready with my bridesmaids, and then spent the night of our wedding with my husband. It could not have been more perfect.

We stayed in the Melpomene Suite, which was absolutely beautiful — spacious, full of natural light, and with a stunning view of the city. The room was the ideal setting for getting ready and made the entire experience feel so special and memorable.

From the comfort of the suite to the overall charm of the hotel, everything exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful to The Pontchartrain Hotel for being such an important part of our wedding memories and highly recommend it to anyone celebrating a special occasion in New Orleans.

My husband and I visited New Orleans for our honeymoon. This was our first visit and we had an incredible time. The moment we pulled up we were greeted by Charles at the valet. He welcomed us and helped us calm down from the hectic drive from Texas.

Once we got settled into our room we went to the bar to get our bearings and have a drink. Our bartender Alyssa made us delicious cocktails, helped us navigate the streetcar system, and provided some great conversation. The ladies in the cafe also provided outstanding service for breakfast.

The hotel was a great combination of history and modern amenities. The room was very clean, the AC worked great, and the bed was comfy. I love the touch of an actual key instead of a key card. The bathrobes were super comfy and cute. Hot Tin has a wonderful view of the city. The streetcar stop right outside of the hotel made this the perfect location for people that don’t want to to sleep in the noisy hustle and bustle of the French Quarter but want to be able to access it easily.

This was a perfect choice for our honeymoon and I would love to stay here again.
