Peterborough Cathedral is an extraordinary place, especially if you’re interested in English history and architecture. One of the highlights is the tomb of Queen Katharine of Aragon, the first wife of Henry VIII. It’s incredibly moving to see where she is buried and to learn about her life, her dignity, and her tragic story. Her connection to the cathedral gives the place real historical depth and emotional weight.

Architecturally, the cathedral is breathtaking. The famous West Front is one of the most impressive in Europe, with its three giant Gothic arches dominating the skyline. Inside, the Norman structure is beautifully preserved, with massive columns, intricate stone carvings, and a sense of scale that’s truly awe-inspiring. The mix of Norman and Gothic styles makes every corner interesting to explore.

The atmosphere is peaceful and reflective, and the staff and volunteers are welcoming and knowledgeable. Peterborough Cathedral is a must-visit for anyone who loves history, architecture, or simply beautiful places.

This is a really lovely cathedral! It's been beautifully preserved and I was so happy to see all the information about the history of the cathedral and the surrounding areas inside, as I've previously been disappointed by other cathedrals in this regard.
I have to admit I'm not normally a fan of art installations inside churches, but the one that was on display when I visited worked really well and looked amazing.
The staff members were also really lovely and really helpful.
If you visit, make sure to check out the grounds surrounding the cathedral, as the infirmary and cloister are also stunning. I didn't see anyone else looking at them, though I'm not sure if that's because people didn't know about gem, or because of the awful weather!

    Stunning cathederal!

Very friendly reception, small gift shop which was lovely.

We visited to see the resting place of Queen Katherine of Aragon, and the first resting place of Mary Queen of Scots, but the cathederal really impressed us!
