I highly recommend the tour of their distillery! It's definitely worth the $20! Our guide was knowledgable in rum and rum distilling and the facility is beautiful. I am not a rum drinker (due to poor choices during a night of celebrating too much) but these ladies converted me back! Their J.D. Shore rum is delicious! I personally love the gold and black rums and I also suggest buying/trying their rum cream.
I cannot wait until they start selling nationally so that I can buy it in Winnipeg! So hop to it ladies! I'll be waiting!!

Halifax Distilling – What a great place and a lovely concept. Owners Julie & Arla have created a great place to stop in, sip on great rum & original drinks and catch live jazz. I was there several times during my visit to Halifax. (Disclosure – I partnered with Halifax Distilling as a sponsor for my trip to the Maritimes and I was so excited to visit the spot & see what they are all about! All opinions in this review are solely my own)
I had a tasting of their rums and they were all delicious and unique. The Dark rum is great for Stormy Weather (combined with local ginger beer). Oh, and I had my first Ceasar (which is like a bloody mary but with Clamato) they served it with white rum rather than vodka and it was delish!
The interior of the place is unique – it has a combination of old world (with the amazing wood bar) and then newer space in the back with modern furnishings. I loved the pics – historic nova scotia photos as well as the history of rum, Prohibition and Julie’s family (she is a 4th generation distiller – her great great great grandfather was a distiller in North Carolina!)
We took a tour of the facilities and it’s very impressive – but let’s face it… I like big tanks!
GREAT music – and they stream them live on Facebook as well. Perfect spot to enjoy local bands.
We also had a party in the back room which is very secluded & great for small parties. The music from the front room can be piped in as well.

Amazing that you can stop in meet the owners and chat. Arla and Julie are so friendly, really great people. Its a beautiful spot right on the hip strip—Great location! The ambiance is inviting, and cozy, with live entertainment! Once you open the door, the aroma is so inviting you cant help but sit in and enjoy a beverage!
I stopped in on my own lil foot tour, then ended up bringing the entire family back, stopped in about 3 times in my 5 day trip.
The owners were so welcoming! We chatted history, local spots and simple small talk about where we were all from. They are wonderful people. This is a MUST STOP once in Downtown Halifax!! Id say try it all, we had the Milk shake—the rum cream and Rum Raisin Ice cream!!
For sure though if you love Ice cream—You Have GOT to try their Rum Raisin Ice cream—- smooth and tastey!! #illBeBack
