We came to Hau Tree on Monday night to celebrate my sister’s birthday and specifically made a reservation for the sunset and it did not disappoint. The view was absolutely gorgeous. Watching the sun go down over the ocean made the whole evening feel special and memorable.

The food was excellent. We ordered the octopus, shrimp pasta, seasoned garlic rice, and fried eggplant, and everything was flavorful and well prepared. The 1944 Mai Tai was also very good.

What truly made the night stand out was our server, Nani. She brought such warm, positive energy to the table and made us feel genuinely taken care of. During dinner, there was a medical emergency at a nearby table, and Nani handled it with professionalism and compassion. Before we left, she came over to check in and apologized for being briefly pulled away, which wasn’t even necessary but it showed how much she cares about her guests’ experience.

She also surprised my sister with a slice of cake at the end of the meal, which was such a thoughtful touch.

Beautiful sunset, great food, and exceptional service. Nani truly elevated the experience.

Visiting at sunset is highly recommended, as the view creates a truly special atmosphere. Making a reservation in advance is advised, and requesting a seat close to the beach makes the experience even better. The food is delicious and seasoned in a way that suits Japanese tastes well. It was an elegant and deeply relaxing time, and it’s a place I would love to visit again.

Try Hau Tree for a more intimate and relaxed dining experience. The beautiful Hau tree with its warm lanterns creates a beautiful ambiance. The service is friendly and non-intrusive. Would be a great date night or fine for a family. The food was truly excellent and featured unique dishes with local fresh ingredients. Try the rainbow caviar appetizer and the pistou chicken pasta for something different. The Waikiki Mai Tai was our favorite mai tai in Waikiki. Definitely a must try for anyone looking for delicious food in a beautiful setting outside of the typical tourist destinations in Waikiki.
