The Hilo Yacht Club is the best hidden gem in Hilo. It is situated on a couple acres of sunny Keaukaha oceanfront property dotted with coconut trees and soft grassy grounds that you can walk barefooted on. The dining is the best in town. You can choose from fancier fare to local staples, the quality is always very, very good, and the menu is constantly updated. The chef does amazing work and the drinks always hit. While it is a private club, it is inviting and family-friendly. Aside from the dining house overlooking the sea, there’s a gym, hot showers and locker room, sand volleyball, tennis, and pickleball courts, a pool with food/drink service, a kiddie playground, beach access, and various little spots to sit and relax. The staff are really the best and make this place special along with the members who clearly love the club. The place is also very unique—native plants grow, locals fish and throw net in the bay, koleas and ducks roam unbothered, all against a backdrop of stunning vistas of the sea and coastline—priceless.

Seated in the spacious covered outdoor dining area with a gentle breeze coming off the ocean on a beautiful sunny day. Out on the reefs walked a tanned local who casted a traditional "throw net" over schools 9f fish in the relatively shallow waters in the reef.

Private Club, Dining, Meeting, Event facility in Hilo Hawaii. What a great place! Service is Great. Food is Decent, Location and Ambiance is OFF THE CHARTS!

IF you don't know about this place you will be hard pressed to find it.

IF you are a climate control type; then this place might not be for you because there is no air conditioning (It's right on the shoreline; enjoy the open air ocean breeze)

If you are looking for a place to go to kick back, have some decent food and not be rushed around, then, this place is for you.

BUT you need to know someone who is a member. Remember? My first two words of this review PRIVATE CLUB
