It was a truly enjoyable experience, especially with our witty and engaging guide, Mr. Rene, a descendant of the Hofileña family. There was so much to see, and learning about the rich history of the house and its collection of artifacts made the visit even more meaningful. The house also features paintings by well-known artists (unfortunately, photography is not allowed in that area, so I wasn’t able to take photos). Overall, this is a place you shouldn’t miss visiting if you have the opportunity.

This trip to Silay would be incomplete if we missed this tour. Only one person is giving the tour so if you missed it, you need to wait for the next round of the tour for about 30 to 45 minutes. The tour is very informative. Guests are allowed to take photos on the first floor only. The second floor is off limits due to the burglary that happened in one of the important paintings displayed on that floor. Thus, to protect this ancestral home from people with ill intentions.
The tour is good for people of all ages as long as they can go up the stairs. There is a fee for the ticket and guests could leave a tip at the end of the tour.
For guests who are driving here, there is a dedicated parking lot inside the gate of the house.

A must-visit in Bacolod!
The Hofileña Ancestral House is one of the most fascinating places I visited in Bacolod. Stepping inside feels like going back in time — the house is beautifully preserved, filled with incredible art pieces, antiques, and stories that bring Negros’ rich heritage to life.
What makes the visit even more special is the guided tour. The hosts are very knowledgeable, welcoming, and passionate about sharing the history of the family and the house. You don’t just see the displays — you learn the meaning behind them.
If you love culture, photography, or simply want a meaningful stop while in Bacolod, this place is a gem. Highly recommended!
